Information on Registration for People with Disabilities

People with disabilities can register themselves at their respective district office of the Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (JKM). The registration is on a voluntary basis and is only open to Malaysian citizens. The registration forms can be obtained from JKM.

The benefits of registration include:
– Healthcare benefits
– Vocational and academic training in special schools and institutions
– Financial assistance (for example, free road tax, discounted tax on National car or motorcycle excise duty, low cost housing, etc.)
– Equipment assistance
– Work placements

For full range of benefits, please contact JKM.

The registration process is roughly as follows:
1) Obtain registration forms from JKM.
2) Bring the form to the authorised medical personnel to certify that the person meets the criteria for registration.
3) Submit the completed forms, together with two copies of the Identity Card or Birth Certificate (for those without Identity Card yet) and three passport-size photos, back to JKM.
4) You should be issued a card within three months. If you have yet to receive it, please contact JKM.

For registration with the Education Ministry, please submit a copy of the JKM registration form to the respective State Education Ministry. This is to allow the State Education Ministry to arrange for school placements.
