Our services

A ‘Disabled’ is a person with Cerebral Palsy. This is a disorder of movement, posture and speech usually appearing in the early years of life. It is due to damage or failure to a small part of the brain which controls these activities to develop normally. There are several facilities at the Disabled Centre to provide free transport, education and treatment (including physiotherapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy) to the disabled children. Some of these facilities include clinics, classrooms, hydrotherapy pool, training kitchen, computer laboratory, library, music room, buses, shops, special sports training equipment and a multipurpose hall.

The physiotherapy is given individual attention and includes hydrotherapy, hippotherapy (riding for the disabled) and selective posterior rhizotomy. The occupational therapy covers physical functioning, cognitive functioning, sensory awareness, activities of daily living and therapeutic adaptations. Speech therapy covers areas such as language development, cognitive development, articulation, breathing and voice quality, speech rate 7 flow assessment and treatment, behavioural and social development, oral musculatures examination and visual auditory discrimination.
