Asian Youth Council (AYC) is a non-governmental, youth serving, regional organization formed on the 14th of August 1972 to promote solidarity and family spirit among young people in Asia as well as to strengthen national youth organizations in the region.

AYC consists of national youth organizations around Asia’s countries. For more than 30 years ago, AYC become a platform for a forum to exchange information and knowledge among national youth councils in Asia, and other inter-regional agencies. It works and collaborate closely with many regional and international partners in order to promote youth volunteerism and development of leadership among young people.

AYC is NGO in consultative status with the United Nations’ Economic and Social Commission (ECOSOC).AYC priority areas shall be guided by two UN documents, namely the World Programme of Action for Youth (WPAY) and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

By tackling the issues concerning WPAY and MDGs, AYC aspires to concoct “One Asia”. The concept was came from current President of Asian Youth Council upon assuming the presidency. He envisions that One Asia Community lives harmoniously in a peaceful region and shares a common level of development.


1. To recognize the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as the basis of its action and its devices.

2. To implement development programmes on the basis of universal economic, social and political justice.

3. To promote peace, goodwill and solidarity amongst member organizations and Asian nations in order to foster a greater international understanding and respect for the wide variety of rich cultural values in the Asian region.

4. To assist young people in Asia to focus attention on their needs and responsibilities as citizens of democratic societies.
