Who are we
The objectives for which the Association is established are:
- To advance the education and general welfare of children and adults who are affected by dyslexia and other specific learning disabilities
- To promote awareness and understanding of the problems and needs of people with specific learning disabilities and thereby assist them to obtain diagnosis and treatment so their disabilities may be remedied
- To persuade appropriate authorities to include in teacher-training courses such instruction as would serve to qualify teachers to recognise in children what may be specific learning disabilities requiring specialised treatment.
- To promote special courses for remedial teacher training and remedial teacher services.
- To promote cordial relations between the Association and similar association interested in any aspect of specific learning disabilities.
- To establish, subscribe or donate to promote, become a member of, support or co-operate or amalgamate with any kindred association or body (whether incorporated or not) whose objectives are similar to those of this Association.
Our activities
- Tuition classes (about three to four children) are available at the Pusat Kegiatan in Setapak. Parents may call 03-40255109 to make an appointment. Tuition fees are moderate.
- Educational and psychological tests to diagnose dyslexia. Members may bring children for tests that are useful in diagnosing dyslexia.
- Weekend activities in art and drama to help dyslexic children to become self-confident.
- Seminars. Since 1993, the association has organised public seminars to educate the community about dyslexia and other specific disabilities.
- Courses for parents and teachers. An 8 hour course on how to teach dyslexic children is offered every few months.
- Full-day and half-day workshops for parents are conducted to show how to make an use teaching aids. Parents are also given some background information on how children learn to read and how to solve reading problems.*
- Activities in the community. The committee is happy to arrange speakers for seminars at schools.

Our needs
Volunteers are welcome. You may visit the Pusat Kegiatan from 1:00pm to 5:00pm Mondays, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursdays and Fridays, or 9:00am to 1:00pm on Saturdays, to personally collect membership forms.
