Who we are and what we do:
Marginalised communities in Sabah are trapped in the poverty cycle due to poor infrastructure and remoteness of the rural areas. Founded in 2016, Hopes Malaysia (HOPES) is an emerging civil society organization (CSO) at National Level (Malaysia) that focuses on sustainable community development projects to meet the basic needs of the underprivileged rural Sabah community. Hopes Malaysia uplift the local rural and needy communities by empowering them, improving their standard of living and breaking the cycle of poverty via our initiatives.
We are focused on “Sustainable Development” in underprivileged rural communities, engaging beneficiaries to become more self-sustainable; from addressing the villagers’ basic needs to clean water and food security, to improving their socioeconomic status and quality of life for their families. Through our agriculture projects, rural farmers are now providing food aid for local care centres / orphanages and needy families in greater Kota Kinabalu are, who are facing increased difficulties due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Located in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, HOPES was founded to bring a positive change to the often-underserved local rural community. We have connected over 8,000 rural villagers from 7 Kota Belud communities with a clean and reliable water supply, which is now further used for sustainable agriculture. Our small team work hard to keep close engagement with the communities we operate in to solving their basic needs issues and sustainably create further opportunities for them to improve their quality of life.
Our mission & vision:
The 3 most important components that we hold firm in HOPES’s operations are, “Sustainability + Impact + Practicality”Our mission is improving the standard of living of the rural underprivileged community, while our vision is pursuing our believes to Break the Cycle of Poverty by empowering rural communities and contributing to more sustainable community work in the communities we operate in, for a meaningful long-term change for future generations.
