Kechara Soup Kitchen (KSK) is a non-religious community action group based in Malaysia. It operates under the inspiration of His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche, the Spiritual Guide of the Kechara organization. KSK’s primary mission is to provide food, basic medical aid, and counseling services to the homeless and urban poor in Malaysia.

KSK maintains a strict non-religious stance, showing respect for the diverse beliefs of the people it serves. The organization follows the motto “Hunger Knows No Barriers” and does not discriminate based on factors such as race, gender, or culture. As a result, the food distributed by KSK is vegetarian.

In the short term, Kechara Soup Kitchen focuses on providing sustenance and basic medical care to those in need. For the medium term, the organization aims to establish a permanent soup kitchen building that serves as a safe space for distributing hot meals and providing medical treatment facilities to the homeless. Simultaneously, KSK will continue its street food delivery service for individuals who cannot reach the center.

In the long term, KSK’s mission extends to reducing homelessness by creating a nurture center. This center will offer training and assistance to help homeless individuals acquire employable skills and successfully reintegrate into society.

KSK operates according to its charter, which is affiliated with Kechara House. Membership in the society is by invitation only, but volunteers from all backgrounds are welcome to participate after committee approval. The organization’s primary goal is to contribute to the betterment of Malaysian society by addressing the needs of the homeless and urban poor while assisting those who wish to reintegrate into mainstream society.

Additionally, KSK has a policy in place that prohibits members and volunteers from criticizing the country, government, political leaders, cultures, races, and religions. The organization exclusively distributes vegetarian food to the homeless and urban poor.
